Bizen ware（備前焼） is a type of Japanese pottery.
備前焼は、日本で焼かれている焼きものの一種です。
Bizen ware is fired in Okayama Prefecture.
備前焼は岡山県で焼かれています。
Bizen ware is said to have developed from a type of pottery called Sueki（須恵器）, which underwent changes.
備前焼は、須恵器と呼ばれる焼き物が変化して発展したものと言われています。

Sueki later developed into Bizen-yaki, Shigaraki-yaki, and Seto-yaki, respectively.
須恵器はその後、備前焼、信楽焼、瀬戸焼へとそれぞれ発展していきました。

In the Muromachi period, wabicha (tea ceremony) developed.
室町時代、茶道が発展しました。
At the same time, Bizen-yaki was found to be attractive because of its simplicity, which was believed to be in tune with the “wabi-sabi” of wabicha (tea ceremony), and its popularity as tea utensils spread.
同時に備前焼は、茶道の「わびさび」に通じる魅力があるとされ、茶道具の一つとして広まっていきました。

One of the most appealing aspects of Bizen ware is that it is made entirely from clay and fire.
備前焼の魅力のひとつは、土と火だけで作られていることです。
Most common pottery in Japan has a glaze applied to the surface.
日本の一般的な陶器は、表面に釉薬がかかっているものがほとんどです。

Bizen Pottery, however, is made only with clay and flame, without glaze, allowing the simple colors and textures of the clay to be enjoyed.
しかし、備前焼は釉薬を使わず、土と炎だけで作るので、土の持つ素朴な色や質感を楽しむことができます。
素朴 ： simple
質感 ： texture
Another attractive feature of Bizen-yaki is “Yohen（窯変）”.
備前焼のもうひとつの魅力が「窯変」です。
Yohen refers to the changes that occur inside the kiln during the firing process.
窯変とは、焼成中に窯の中で起こる変化を指します。
指す、参照する ： refer to
起こる ： occur
窯 ： kiln
Because of this, no two pieces of Bizen ware are alike.
そのため、備前焼は一つとして同じものがありません。
