Edo-kiriko（江戸切子） is a traditional glass craft with delicate patterns created by skilled craftsmen.
江戸切子は、熟練の職人の手によって繊細な紋様が施された伝統的ガラス工芸です。
Only glass products made by hand by craftsmen who are members of the association are called “Edo-kiriko.

組合に加入する職人の手作業によって作られたガラス製品のみを、「江戸切子」と呼びます。
The origin of Edo-kiriko is said to date back to 1834, when glass artisans in the town of Edo engraved the surface of glass.
江戸切子の始まりは、1834年に江戸の町でガラス職人がガラスの表面に彫刻したことが起源と言われています。

Edo-kiriko is made of two layers of glass, the colored glass on the surface and the clear glass on the inside.
江戸切子は、表面側の色ガラスと内側の透明ガラスの二層構造によってつくられています。
By cutting the colored glass in the two-layered structure, fine patterns are created.

その二層構造の色ガラスの部分を削ることで、細かい紋様を施しています。
