Shingoten was extended and reconstructed for the Emperor Gomizuno’s visit, and an attached tsuke-shoin was added to the Ichinoma of Shingoten.
後水尾天皇の行幸のために増改築されたのが、新御殿です。新御殿の一の間には、付書院が設けられました。
The tsuke-shoin has a large comb-shaped window with a novel design. To the right is the famous Katsura-dana, made of rare trees from South Asia as well as Japan.
その付書院には、斬新なデザインの、櫛型の窓が大きく開いています。右手には名高い桂棚が据えられていて、国産のみならず南アジアの珍しい木々を用いています。
