Gifu Prefecture was originally named “Mino”, hence the name “Mino ware”.

Mino ware is divided into several types, including Shino ware and Oribe ware.

Shino ware refers to Mino ware with a white glaze.

Oribe ware is mainly glazed with a green glaze. Oribe ware is also characterized by its design and pattern. Oribe-yaki is characterized by its snarled and asymmetrical shaped designs. Bold checkerboard and geometric patterns are also drawn.
織部焼は、主に緑色の釉薬がかけられます。また、織部焼の特徴は、デザインと文様です。いびつで非対称な形のデザインであることが、織部焼の特徴です。また、大胆な市松模様や幾何学模様が描かれます。

Arita-yaki is porcelain fired in Saga Prefecture. It is famous as the first period in which it was produced in Japan.

Celadon is ceramics with a blue glaze. Originally, celadon was fired in China, and the celadon of the Longquan kilns in China is particularly famous.
青磁は、青い釉薬がかけられた陶磁器です。もともと青磁は中国で焼かれており、中でも中国の龍泉窯の青磁は特に有名です。

In Japan, trade with China began in the Muromachi period in order to build a temple called Tenryuji. Celadon porcelain imported from China during that period is called “Tenryuji celadon” in particular.
日本においては、室町時代に天龍寺というお寺を造営するために、中国との貿易を始めました。その時代に中国から輸入された青磁を、とくに「天龍寺青磁」と言います。
